How High Fructose Corn Syrup is holding you back from getting your 6-Pack and keeping it year-round?

The biggest difference in these photos besides the increase in muscles and shredded abs is the amount of sugar, specifically high fructose corn syrup, I consumed daily.


On the left, I was drinking a 32 ounce soda per day, and eating foods with loads of high fructose corn syrup hidden inside it chemical makeup. On the right, I was not consuming any high fructose corn syrup, eating only meat, grain, vegetables, and drinking plenty of water.


This sounds like common sense, but at my 1st ever bodybuilding show I was surprised to hear from other athletes how they still incorporated foods that had high fructose corn syrup in them as "preworkout" fuel or just to hold them over.


This led me to believe that I could get away with having a sweet treat in my meal plan. In theory and practice this works. The problem begins after show day. We would all love it if we could walk around with single digit body fat and shredded abs year round. The bodybuilding community acts as if this isn't a reality, but I have found that you can with elimination of certain industrial processed foods. The first one, high fructose corn syrup.


Why you need to eliminate High Fructose Corn Syrup?


Even if you are fitting foods with HFCS into your macros, the love story will end in disappointment.


HFCS alters the brain's reward system, similar to addictive substances. It affects the levels of dopamine, the neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward, leading to addictive eating behaviors and cravings for more sugary foods. You are one stressful day away from being knocked off your macros and succumbing to the urges of the addiction that has formed.


Now that you are hooked, the rapid accumulation of fat can begin. Unlike glucose, fructose is metabolized primarily in the liver, where it is converted into glucose or fat. This process, known as lipogenesis, leads to the accumulation of triglycerides, which are then stored in fat cells.


Not only are you susceptible to gaining all the fat back, but you are also opening the flood gates to diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.


You are much better off without this stuff. Make your 6-pack dreams come true and keep them by eliminating this toxin out of your life!
