R.A.D Fitness: Sharing our expertise about training, nutrition, and recovery!

Welcome to the R.A.D. Forum

Introducing Managing Partner & Master Trainer Coach Matty J

Hello my R.A.D. family!

I am excited to deliver detailed insights into all of the questions I have received and answered over the last six years as a personal trainer. Often times I feel like I can't go into as much detail that is necessary for most topics, which inspired me to create a blog for the R.A.D. family to refer to regarding training, nutrition, and recovery. I'm sure as we evolve the topics will spread further than that. Thank you for being apart of our community and for your support.

Matty J to Fatty J to Coach Matty J

Before ever becoming a bodybuilder or trainer, I played football at Clemens High in Schertz, Texas. Naturally I am a competitor and hard working, which had set me up with opportunities to continue playing the sport I love at the Division 1 level. Like many other athletes, my goal was crushed by two injuries that cut my senior season short and wiped me out of contention to play Division 1 football. I quickly downward spiraled into overeating and consuming alcohol which took me from "Matty J" to "Fatty J".

Thanks to the support of my mother and my trainer at the time, Coach Ash, I began getting back into shape. This little sense of achievement created an obession about just exactly how I could get into "peak condition".

At the end of that summer I left for Hardin Simmons University to play football. Exactly one year later, I was competing in my first bodybuilding show and left the sport I loved behind.

Reaching "peak condition" was a drug for me. My ego might have exploded a little, but that achievement inspired me to push myself in all areas of my life.

I have felt the pain of losing a dream from injury and I have felt the high from achieving my best personal shape. My goal for every single R.A.D. Fitness client is to feel the high of accomplishing their goals while learning how to train properly and preventing injuries.

If you made it this far, thank you, and look out for the next post!

~ Coach Matty J
